Pathway to Nursing

  • Develop skills to care for patients who are ill, injured or disabled
  • Prepare for a career working in hospitals or nursing homes under the direction of nurses and doctors
  • Successful students will be qualified to take the State Test for Nurse Assisting and may transition to partnering post-secondary institutions to complete the requirements to become a Registered Nurse in a time-shortened program
  • College credit available

STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant)

HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT:

1st year – 1 Science, 1 Technology, 1 Elective

2nd year – 3 Elective

COLLEGE PARTNERS/CREDITS EARNED:

Columbus State Community College:  Up to 13.5 Semester Hours

POSSIBLE CAREER PATHS:

Employment after graduation, 2 and 4 year college

Students learn basic nursing care and skills.  There are classroom, lab and clinical components for this class.
