- Discover how living organisms like cells, plants and animals can be used to solve real life problems related to crime, hunger, the environment, nutrition and health.
- Use scientific inquiry in areas of microbiology, DNA, proteins, immunoloty and bioethics.
- Sharpen lab skills like micro pipetting, aseptic technique, pouring, inoculating and streaking agar plates.
CAREER – TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATION:
All students in BioScience Technology belong to the National FFA Organization. This youth club provides students with many opportunities for achievement and leadership, including public speaking, competitive skills events, and community service activities.
HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT:
1st year – 1 Science, 2 Technology
2nd year – 3 Elective
COLLEGE PARTNERS/CREDITS EARNED:
Columbus State Community College: Up to 3 Semester Hours
POSSIBLE CAREER PATHS:
Additional education through a 2 and/or 4 year college can lead to work as a Laboratory Assistant, Clinical Research Associate, Veterinary Technician, Registered Nurse, Bioinformatics Specialist, Microbiologist, Food Scientist, Pharmacologist.
