The Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center is a city wide magnet alternative school with two unique educational programs – an arts and academic, college-preparatory high school and a career center program.

ShotTower2The Fort Hayes Arts and Academic High School focuses on a rigorous college preparatory program and a rich immersion in music, dance, theatre and the visual arts.  The curriculum is delivered through yearlong block schedule with students taking courses on alternate days and one day with all classes each week.  Advanced placement courses are offered in African American History, Art History, Art Studio (Drawing & 2D), Calculus A/B, English Language, English Literature and Government and Politics.   Fort Hayes offers Kenyon (College) Academic Partnership (KAP) courses in KAP Spanish V, and KAP African American History.  Students apply for the 180 freshmen openings and are selected by lottery.

The Fort Hayes Career Center offers vocational courses in health and medical services, visual and performing arts, construction arts, and auto technology.  Career Center programs are held-day vocation courses designed to prepare students at marketplace proficiency.  Fort Hayes is located on a beautiful eight building fifty-acre campus just north of downtown Columbus, Ohio.

School Mission: The Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center mission is to create expectations of excellence within students through challenging and collaborative learning, by blending the arts, academics, and career programs.
